Dorothy 'Dot' Vickers Faircloth

Dorothy “Dot” Vickers Faircloth, 91, of Northport, formerly of Atmore, died Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Forest Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Faircloth was born Aug. 14, 1927, to Rev. and Mrs. John Clinton Vickers in Rutledge, Ala. She was an active member of the First united methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International teacher's honorary, the Atmore Library Board, and the Atmore Historical Society. As an Escambia County educator for more than 30 years, she had graduated from Huntingdon College and began teaching at Escambia County High School and later at the Escambia County Junior High School (Middle) as an American history teacher.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 25, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Brennan Peacock, Tim Trent and Diane Everette officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Johnson Quimby Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Faircloth is survived by two daughters, Vicke Faircloth (Walter) Smith of Northport and Keron Faircloth (James) Kyzar of Andalusia; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Faircloth was preceded in death by her husband, George Taylor Faircloth; and her parents.
