Three arrested in two traffic stops

Two separate traffic stops in Flomaton ended with a Flomaton woman, a Century man and a McDavid man being booked into the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton on drug charges.

Ryan Wade Stephens, 24, 40 Hudson Hill Road, Century was arrested for driving with a suspended license, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (spice) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Joseph Marshall Creamer, 26, 4631 Highway 164, McDavid, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Katherine Leann Hellinger, 33, 1751 Ringold St., Flomaton, was charged with having no driver's license, failing to display insurance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports filed by the Flomaton Police Department, Chief Bryan Davis was on patrol April 18 at 9:42 a.m. when he spotted a vehicle that had no front right turn signal and initiated a traffic stop.

He learned that the driver, Stephens, had a suspended license and previous arrest for possession of spice.

When questioned, Creamer, who was sitting in the back seat, told Davis there was a pipe behind his seat.

The report said a search of Creamer resulted in finding a clear plastic wrapper in his pocket that contained meth. A search of Stephens resulted in officers finding a plastic baggie in his boot that contained a green leafy material believed to be spice.

The report noted the two were transported to the detention center and a subsequent search of Stephen's revealed a burned cigar, believed to have contained spice.

Hellinger was arrested April 20 after Flomaton Police Officer Derrick Hodges pulled over her vehicle for failing to use a turn signal.

Hodges reported as he approached the vehicle he observed a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance inside the vehicle. The substance later tested positive for meth.
