Chiefs pound Hurricanes 9-0

Northview jumped on Flomaton early and never let up as the Chiefs defeated the Hurricanes 9-0 Tuesday night in a game that saw Northview collect seven hits and commit no errors while the Hurricanes had seven errors and only two hits.

Flomaton will be idle until Thursday, April 11, when the Hurricanes enter an area series with St. Michael's to determine the Hurricanes' post season hopes.

In the three-team area of Flomaton, Bayside and St. Michael's, Bayside is in the driver's seat for the area title. Flomaton and Bayside split their area games, but Bayside won the tie-breaker. Bayside and St. Michael's play this Thursday and Friday.

In a switch from the normal format, Flomaton will travel to St. Michael's April 11 for an area game beginning at 4 p.m. The teams will play the tiebreaker at St. Michael's at 6 p.m. St. Michael's will then travel to Flomaton on April 12 for the other area game starting at 4 p.m.

Tuesday night, it was all Northview as the Chiefs rolled over the Hurricanes.

Flomaton went three and out in the top of the first and Northview struck in the bottom on the inning. After two outs, Seth Killam singled and stole second and scored on Jackson Moore's RBI single to give the Chief's a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Ben Wilson reached on an error and later scored on Alex McMinn's RBI single to give Northview a 2-0 lead.

After a scoreless third inning, Northview struck for one run in the bottom of the fourth. Ben Wilson reached on a single and later scored to give Northview a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, Jackson Moore singled and Adam Aliff was hit by a pitch and passed ball and Flomaton errors allowed both runners to score to give the Chiefs' a 5-0 lead.

Northview blew the game open in the top of the sixth when Nick Venable was hit by a pitch, Billy Rolin reached on an error and Killam was also hit by a pitch. Jackson Moore flied out to right with an RBI and Adam Aliff followed with a single. Jacob Bryant also singled and Venable, Rolin, Killam and Aliff all scored to give Northview the 9-0 lead.

Flomaton's two hits came from Evan Tatum and Will Rolin.

Moore led the Chiefs with two hits and two RBI. Killam, Aliff, Bryant, Ben Wilson, and Tanner Levins all had hits for Northview.

Nick Venable got the win for the Chiefs allowing no runs on no hits in two and two thirds inning of work.

Evan Tatum took the loss for the Hurricanes allowing three runs on four hits in four innings of work.
