James Benjamin 'JB' Bethea

James Benjamin “JB” Bethea, 70, died Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Atmore, Ala.

Mr. Bethea was a native of Knoxville, Tenn. who had resided in Atmore for most of his life. Of the Baptist faith, he was a trucker and racing fan.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Randall Short officiating. Burial followed at Canoe Methodist Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Bethea is survived by his fiance, Melanie Adams of Atmore; two sons, James (Wendy) Bethea of Rockwell, N.C. and Jason Hicks of Mobile; two daughters, Tammy (Jamie) Porter of Southport, N.C. and Jennifer Bethea of Bridgeport, Ala.; two brothers, Dewey Bethea of Atmore and Thomas (Sue) Bethea of Ruskin, Fla.; one sister, Eunice Sutter of Pace, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bethea was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Delta Bethea.
