Contraband found in jail sweep nets seven

So far, seven inmates housed at the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton have been charged with felony counts of promoting prison contraband for having cell phones following a shakedown Feb. 9 that also discovered cell phone chargers, homemade knives, pills, tobacco, spice, lighters and a tattoo gun.

Sheriff Heath Jackson said sheriff's deputies and officers with the Brewton Police Department participated in the sweep.

Jackson also said the case is ongoing and he expects more arrests to follow.

Those arrested and charged with promoting prison contraband I are:

Christopher Ladale Pugh, 26, of McGougin Road in Brewton; Darrell Octavius Brown, 29, Martin Luther King Drive in Atmore; Marcus Oneal Pritchett, 25, of North Weaver Street in Selma; Marcus Joseph Dooms, 33, of Kings Troop Court in Mobile; Tamichael Vantrell Hudson, 47, of Pierce Boulevard in Mobile; Kevin Lee Watson, 44, of Robinsonville Road in Atmore; and Willie James Henry, 40, of Hitt Road in Mobile.
