Hurricanes fall to Northview 6-1, storm back to defeat Central 9-6

Flomaton will be back in action at home this Friday hosting Jay; will travel to J.U. Blacksher Monday

After losing to Northview 6-1 at home Monday, Flomaton High School bounced back to defeat Central in Chumuckla 9-6 Tuesday night to move to 4-2 on the season.

Flomaton will be back in action this Friday hosting the Jay Royals. The junior varsity will play at 4 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6 p.m. Flomaton will travel to J.U. Blacksher Monday with identical times of 4 p.m. for the junior varsity and 6 p.m. for the varsity.

Northview 6, FHS 1

On a cold night in Flomaton Monday, the Hurricanes and the Chiefs headed into the sixth inning tied a 1-1. Northview struck first in the top of the third when Nick Venable scored with the Hurricanes committing four errors in the inning.

Flomaton answered in the bottom of the third when Alex Cash led off with a single and later scored on Jackson Steele's RBI single.

The game was still 1-1 heading into the top of the sixth before Northview scored three runs. The Chiefs added two runs in the seventh for the 6-1 win.

Flomaton outhit hit Northview four to three but the Canes committed six errors to the Chiefs' three.

Nick Venable, Jackson Moore and Seth Killam all had hits for the Chiefs. Jackson Steele led Flomaton with two hits and Joseph O'Bannon and Jerry Carnley also had hits for the Canes.

Killam got the win for Northview going the distance and allowing the 1 unearned run, striking out 12 and walking one.

Steele took the loss for the Hurricanes, allowing four runs (all unearned) on two hits and striking out eight in six innings of work. O'Bannon worked one inning for the Hurricanes allowing two unearned runs on one hit.

FHS 9, Central 6

Flomaton jumped out to a 9-0 lead at Central Tuesday and held off a late Central rally to claim a 9-6 victory.

Flomaton took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third, added a single run in the top of the fourth and scored four in the top of the fifth to take the 9-0 lead.

Central rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth. After holding Flomaton off the board in the top of the seventh, Central was able to add only one run for the 9-6 loss.

Both teams ended the night with six hits and four errors.

Jay Jackson was a perfect two-for-two for the Hurricanes. Alex Cash, Jackson Steele, Joseph O'Bannon and Tucker Davenport all had a hit for Flomaton.

Landyn Jernigan, Mike Gaines, Daryl Gaines, Daryl Peek, Hayes Cooley, Nathan Smarr and Noah Patterson all had hits for Central.

Evan Tatum got the win for the Hurricanes allowing five unearned runs on five hits and striking out seven in five and a third innings. O'Bannon allowed one earned run on one hit in one and two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Peek took the loss for Central in relief of Ben Joyner by allowing two earned runs on three hits.
