Sweep nets eight drug arrests

Atmore PD, deputies seize meth, codeine, Kratom, pot

The Atmore Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff's Office joined together Friday to conduct a city-wide traffic enforcement detail that resulted in the arrest of eight people with six being charged with drug crimes.

Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks said the additional officers on the streets performed numerous traffic stops for speeding, vehicle equipment violations and other moving violations.

Those arrested included:

- Joshua Hall, 29, of Harris Street in Atmore, charged with trafficking codeine, unlawful possession of marijuana I, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Hall was jailed on $1 million bond but also faces bond revocation on a previous arrest for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Trial in that case is set for March 11.

- Christopher Moore, 43, of Woods Road, Atmore, charged with unlawful possession of marijuana I. He was jailed on $5,000 bond.

- Aaron Lambeth, 21, of Bellfork Road, Atmore, charged with trafficking methamphetamine. He was jailed on $1 million bond. He also faces a bond revocation on a previous possession of meth charge.

- Jerrell Johnson, 33, of Chestnut St., Monroeville, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed on $10,000 bond.

- Bethany Brooke Dumas, 31, of Longleaf Drive, Monroeville, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed on $5,000 bond.

- William K. Cheeks, 34, of Weatherwood Drive, Pensacola, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Kratom). He was jailed on $5,000 bond.

- Roy Sanders was arrested on a warrant out of Baldwin County and Frank Gulley was arrested on two outstanding warrants from Escambia County.
