Century man faces charge

A Century man who was suspected for car theft is facing felony drug charges when deputies made contact with him near the intersection of Barker Street and Chemstrand Road in Pensacola and searched him on Jan. 16.

Billy Ray Burns, Jr., 6850 Bratt Road., was charged with two counts felony possession of a controlled substance when deputies searched him after detaining him in reference to an armed disturbance involving a vehicle theft, according to an Escambia County Sheriff's Office report.

A search of the suspect revealed a baggie containing multiple marijuana cigarette pieces in burnt condition and a second baggie that contained two baggies each of what tested positive for heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana, the report said.

The baggies were located in Burns' right front pants pocket and when a deputy searched his wallet, it contained a counterfeit $100 bill, the report stated.

Burns was arrested and transported to Escambia County Jail and given a total bond of $5,500.
