Martha Elizabeth Ratliff, 74, of Brewton, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2019 in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Ratliff was a native and longtime resident of Texas before moving to Brewton. Of the Baptist faith, she was the first female officer in Ellis Sheriff's Department, where she retired from in 2012 with 40 years of service.
Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 11, at City Cemetery in Waxahachie, Texas with Speaker Dennis Brealy officiating. Burial followed with Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home directing and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing locally.
Mrs. Ratliff is survived by two sisters, Letha (Jimmy) Spinks of Brewton and Betty Sure Rider of Waxahachie.
