'The Summit' is coming to Atmore in Jan.

Assisted living facility to open in Atmore

The city of Atmore will welcome a new assisted living facility by mid-January with the opening of 'The Summit' at the former site of 'Country Living' at 140 McRae St..

Operating under common ownership of 'The Terrace' in Jay, Long Term Care of Atmore, LLC, offers 24 rooms and will be licensed for 28 residents. It will offer assisted living with memory care.

"We hope to be licensed to accept residents in mid January," said Jack Floyd, one of the partners.

Floyd, along with Jay physician Dr. C. David Smith, were on hand recently for an open house to show off the new facility.

"We're excited to be in Atmore," Floyd said. "The community has accepted us with open arms. We could have gone anywhere in Alabama to begin senior citizens' living, but we chose Atmore."

Dr. Smith also said it's been a great experience coming to Atmore and is excited about the opening.

"We bring a lot of expertise and experience and the community has welcomed us. It's a win-win for us and the community."

Although the facility won't be open until mid January, Floyd said room selection has already begun.

"We've already had several people pick out their rooms," Floyd said. "People can do their room selection now."

Floyd said while the facility is not open daily, he is available to give tours and answer any questions. Anyone interested in touring the facility can contact Floyd at 850-336-1127.
