Jay man in hospital after wreck

A Jay man was one of two drivers involved in a crash on Willard Road Tuesday in Santa Rosa County that landed both drivers in the hospital.

Cody Bundy, 20, was traveling east on Willard Norris Road at 6:50 a.m. in his 2003 Ford Ranger approaching a private driveway when a tan Ford F250 driven by Douglas Kelley, 71, of Pace, was stopped in the private driveway waiting to turn right onto the same road.

Kelley initiated the right turn directly out of the driveway in front of Bundy's vehicle, causing Bundy to swerve right to avoid Kelley's vehicle. The front left of Bundy's truck struck the rear right of Kelley's truck and the force of the impact caused Kelley's truck to overturn into a nearby drainage ditch onto its left side.

Bundy's vehicle came to rest against Kelley's vehicle on the shoulder of the ditch facing east.

Both drivers were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital with serious injuries.
