Daycare suspect jailed

Footprints help to ID the suspect in burglary

Footprints at the scene and a body description from a witness led Flomaton Police Inv. Chance Thompson to arrest a suspect in the break-in at the First Baptist Church Daycare and the vacant building next door.

Na'Keetric Devonte Davison, 26, who police described as homeless but had a last known address on County Road 4 in Century, was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of burglary III, two counts of criminal mischief III and theft of property IV.

Davison is accused of kicking in a door at the daycare center over the weekend of Sept. 22-23 and stealing food that included popcorn, chicken nuggets, meatballs, fish sticks, French fries and sugar. He is also accused of kicking in the door of the vacant house next door, where nothing was reported missing.

While Inv. Thompson was processing the scene on Monday, Sept. 24, he found shoeprints in the dirt and on the door of the daycare center and shoeprints on the door of the house.

A witness gave Inv. Thompson a description of a person seen leaving the daycare center with food, noting he was talking to himself as he left.

Sunday, Inv. Thompson was dispatched to a complaint under the trestle on Railroad Street and found Davison in his underwear washing clothes. He said he saw footprints and located Davison's boots that matched the footprints taken from the crime scene.

Davison was arrested and denied any knowledge of the break-in. He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton and jailed on a $20,000 bond.
