Help show support to festivals

We offer our thanks to the many people who worked hard to put on Railroad Junction Day in Flomaton this past Saturday. We also offer out thanks to the people who put on the Jay Peanut Festival, the Alabama Blueberry Festival in Brewton and William Station Day in Atmore.

If you've never been involved with putting a festival together, we'll tell you it's hard work. We'll also tell you that the people putting these festivals on are volunteering their time to make sure everybody has a good time.

This past Saturday in Flomaton, the Railroad Junction Day had more vendors than the festival has ever had. That wasn't by accident. We also witnessed a huge crowd despite hot temperatures and high humidity.

This coming weekend, we encourage you to attend the Peanut Festival in Jay and on Oct. 27 the streets will be filled in Atmore for William Station Day.

Attending these festivals not only help the vendors who are selling goods, they help the towns where they are located.

More traffic in towns means more tax dollars that help provide the services we all take for granted.

Most every town holds a festival. Show your support.
