Denver 'Bubbie' Blake Shuttlesworth

Denver “Bubbie” Blake Shuttlesworth, 19, of Atmore, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 in Memphis, Tenn.

Mr. Shuttlesworth was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. A member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, he was a member of the Poarch Creek Indians 4-H Club and the Poarch Creek Indians Summer Youth Program. He was a 2017 graduate of the Victory Performing Arts Academy of Pace, Fla. and the 2016 Joy of Life Mardi Gras King. A football player at J.U. Blacksher School and participating in the Native American Youth Organization, he was a member of both the Skyhigh for St. Jude and Friendly Holiness Church.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the McCullough Christian Center with Pastor Ray Ward, Bishop Darryl North, Pastor Trevor Daughtry and Pastor Todd Bailey officiating. Burial followed at New Home Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Shuttlesworth is survived by his parents, Randal Shuttlesworth of Perdido, Ala. and Sandy Hollinger of Uriah, Ala.; one brother, Austin Shuttlesworth of Perdido; one sister, Anna Grace “Tootie” Hollinger of Uriah; four grandparents, Ruth Bailey of Poarch, Gladys Darnell of Tuscaloosa, and Alex “Buster” and Yvonne “Pug” Hollinger of Uriah; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Shuttlesworth was preceded in death by four grandparents, William Fretwell, Jerry Bailey, Worthy James Shuttlesworth and D.D. Darnell.
