Water problems continue

Karla Ptomey told members of the Flomaton Town Council that recent rains once again flooded her property and put about 12 inches of rain in her shed, blaming the problem was caused by a faulty drainage pipe.

The council had earlier worked to correct the drainage in that area.

“The water is not flowing and most of it comes out at my house,” Ptomey said. “With the work that was done I was told it would take care of the problem, but it didn't take care of the problem.”

She told the council the storm water is not draining properly toward the creek and did note last week was the first time her property flooded since the previous work had been done.

Councilman Buster Crapps also said he had flooding on his street for the first time since that issue was fixed.

Mayor Dewey Bondurant Jr., said one problem is a pipe that goes under Sidney Manning Boulevard, but noted the state wouldn't fix the problem.

Bondurant did said he would talk to someone at the Department of Transportation again about the problem.
