Attempt to flee ends in drug arrests

Prescription drugs, meth, spice found inside vehicle that tried to flee from Flomaton police

An attempt to out run Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis ended with the arrest of three people on drug charges following a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon on the Highway 29 overpass in Flomaton.

Chief Davis said he observed a white Toyota Corolla in the area of Ringold Street that turned onto College, headed toward Jackson. Davis said the vehicle was driving in the middle of the road and as it approached the speed bump at Abernethy Park it sped up and ran the stop sign at the intersection of Jackson and Wilkerson streets.

Davis activated his lights and siren and witnessed the vehicle run the stop sign at Wilkerson and Highway 29, heading south. Davis said the tag number came back to the same vehicle where a woman was arrested recently for possession of methamphetamine.

Davis passed the vehicle on the overpass, pulled in front and blocked the Toyota. Davis said officers treated it as a felony stop and exited their vehicles with their weapons pulled. He reported officers saw a lot of drug paraphernalia in plain view and a further search reveal multiple types of drugs.

The driver was identified as Tristan Lee Bell, 21, 533 Wagon Wheel Road, Flomaton.

Bell was charged with illegal possession of prescription drugs, unlawful possession of spice, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued citations for attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, no seatbelt, running stop signs, driving while license was suspended and failure to reduce speed when approaching law enforcement.

The front passenger in the vehicle, Cord Hunter Salter, 25, 1617 Brookwood Drive, Brewton, was charged with unlawful possession of spice, unlawful possession of meth and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cody Edward Comalander, 18, 3300 Bama Lane, Century, who was the rear passenger, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Davis said in addition to the illegal drugs, officers found two sets of digital scales, baggies, straws with residue, butane lighters and more paraphernalia.

All three were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
