A traffic stop Sunday morning in Riverview led to the arrest of an Alabaster man on misdemeanor drug charges but a computer check revealed the suspect had outstanding felony warrants in Shelby and Jefferson counties.
Escambia County Sheriff's Office Investigator Deric Smith was working traffic on Highway 41 South shortly before noon Sunday when he noticed a silver car traveling north at a high rate of speed. Reports note Smith activated his radar and clocked the vehicle doing 71 mph in a 55 mph zone. The officer turned around and activated his emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop.
