Rozetta Hamilton

Rozetta Hamilton, 88, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Mrs. Hamilton was born March 1, 1930, to Emmitt and Edna Hamilton as an identical twin. Educated in the Escambia School district, she later went to art school to enhance her love of drawing. In 1955, she moved to Los Angeles, Calif. She accepted a position with the U.S. Postal Service in 1968 until she retired in 1990. Returning to Century in 1990, she worked as a home health aide with the Council on Aging and was a volunteer photographer for Century Community Emergency Association. She rejoined First Mt. Zion MCB and was active with the Missionary Council and Deaconess Board.

The funeral was held at 12 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at First Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop C.P. Askew officiating. Burial followed at Century Cemetery with Jackson-McMurray Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by four daughters, Janice (Charles) Jennings and Delores (Fred) Miley, both of Century, Mertha (Carl) Kemp of Los Angeles and Bernice Marshall of Hahira, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members.

Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by three sons, Bobby Hamilton, Harold Roberts and Joseph Roberts; her parents; one twin sister, Marzette Scott; two grandparents, Isom and Bell Blackmon; and one grandchild.
