Jay rodeo set this weekend

Cowboys, cowgirls and more hit arena this Friday and Saturday

The place to be this Friday or Saturday night for those who love a good rodeo is the Ted May Arena in Jay at 8 p.m., watching the performers awe the crowd at the 17th Annual Jay Pro Rodeo.

The 3R Rodeo Company out of Jemison, Ala. will entertain with rodeo action including pro bull riding, barrel racing, women's breakaway, steer wrestling, saddle broncs and calf and team roping.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Parking is free and all proceeds benefit are youth programs such as the Jay High School Government Association.

The kids will enjoy the calf scramble, where they can chase the calf to get the ribbon off his tail first, bouncy houses, cow patty bingo, a petting zoo and more. This event is a great time for everyone to put on their cowboy boots and cowboy hats and see what a real rodeo is like.

There will be plenty of local vendors set up, offering food, concessions and rodeo-related gear, such as saddles, tacks and equipment.
