Porcia Leah Godwin Pettis

Porcia Leah Godwin Pettis, 94, of the Wallace community, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, afet an extended illness.

Mrs. Pettis was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County (Ala.) who had been a member of Pineview Pentecostal Holiness Church all of her life. A homemaker, she and her husband were owners and operators of Pettis Pole and Logging Company for many years.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 11, at Craver's Funeral Home chapel with Rev. James Peacock officiating. Burial followed at Hanberry Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Mrs. Pettis is survived by one son, Thomas M. (Shannon) Pettis; one daughter, Elizabeth (Buck) Smith of Wallace; one brother, Robert (Glennie) Godwin of Brewton; four sisters, Delray Dewberry and Juanita Parker, both of Brewton, Johnnie White of Flomaton and Delores Baggett of Molino, Fla.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pettis was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Claney Mack Pettis.
