Man jailed for robbery and kidnapping

Atmore couple knew suspect

A Florida man is being held in the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton on $200,000 bond on multiple charges after allegedly tying up an Atmore couple, robbing them, sstealing their vehicle and later returning to the home where he was arrested.

Albert Dubose, 51, was charged with two counts of robbery I, two counts of kidnapping II and theft of property.

According to information released by the Atmore Police Department, police received a call at 7:40 a.m. Saturday from the 400 block of South Main Street in reference to two people being held against their will and being robbed by a person known by the couple.

The victims told police Dubose knocked on their door about 2 a.m. saying he needed a place to sleep for the night. The female victim allowed Dubose into the home.

According to police, the victims said Dubose forced the female victim into a bedroom where the male victim was sleeping. Dubose then made both victims lie in the bed where he tied them up with bed sheets.

The victims told police Dubose then took an undisclosed amount of cash and a vehicle belonging to the them.

About 11:30 a.m. Dubose returned to the victims' home with the vehicle. Atmore police were called and Dubose was taken into custody.
