More charges for woman while in jail

A Flomaton woman already in jail on theft of services, failure to pay and drug charges now faces theft of property IV and fraudulent use of a credit card after being accused of using the numbers off of someone else's debit card to order items online from Walmart.

Shanna Nelson, 32, 2328 Cary St., was served with the new arrest warrants while sitting in the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton on the new credit card fraud charges.

Flomaton police were first dispatched to Nelson's residence last Tuesday with warrants charging her with the theft of services and failure to pay after she was accused of cutting a the lock off a locked water meter and stealing services.

Flomaton Police Detective Chance Thompson went to the house on the original warrants and observed a pipe used to smoke marijuana. Thompson was denied permission to search the home and a warrant was obtained, where he reported finding various pipes (one containing methamphetamine), grinders and other containers.

Nelson was then charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thompson later received information from a victim accusing Nelson of using the numbers off her debit card to make purchases at Walmart.

Thompson said he interviewed Nelson at the county jail and she confessed to using the credit card numbers to order presents for her children online from Walmart.
