Jay Mayor Shon Owens will re-name the Jay Community Center the Linda Carden Community Center in
a reception at 6 p.m., Tues., June 19, at the facility locatedon Booker Avenue behind Jay Town Hall in honor of former Town Clerk Cardin's 40 years of service to the community.
Santa Rosa County Commissioner Don Salter will be the guest speaker and a small reception with light
refreshments will follow the event.
Carden started working for the Town of Jay in 1976 as the assistant to the town clerk, Theda Bray. Cardin subsequently worked for three mayors: J.D. Bray; Jackie Ard, and Kurvin Qualls.
As town clerk, she earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of
Municipal Clerks Master Municipal Clerk Academy Program.
