Property tax sale begins on May 17

Escambia County (Ala.) owners have until May 16 to pay taxes to avoid auction sale

Property owners in Escambia County (Ala.) who have not paid their property taxes have until May 16 to pay the taxes, fees and penalties before that property will be put up for sale at public auction beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 17.

Tax Collector Tim Pettis said as of Tuesday there were still more than 300 parcels still on the books to be sold.

“Hopefully people will come in a pay the taxes,” Pettis said. “If not, they will be auctioned off beginning May 17.”

The tax sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If all parcels are not sold on May 17, the sale will resumed at 10 a.m. on May 18 on the front porch of the courthouse in Brewton.
