EMS is arriving Monday

LifeGuard to park in Flomaton fire house

A reception will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the Flomaton Fire Station to officially welcome the arrival of LifeGuard Ambulance Service to the area.

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority recently reached an agreement with LifeGuard to house an ambulance in Flomaton to serve the central part of the county.

Special guests expected to attend include Flomaton Mayor Dewey Bondurant Jr., Century Mayor Henry Hawkins, the Rev. Jonathan Hill, pastor of Little Escambia Baptist Church, healthcare authority members Ruth Harrell and Bo Brantley and D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital Administrator Chris Griffin.

The Flomaton area had previously been served by Escambia County (Fla.) EMS stationed in Century, which announced it was pulling out of Alabama. However, healthcare authority members said the Century ambulance will be available to the Flomaton area as part of a mutual aid agreement in the event the ambulance in Flomaton is on another call and not available.
