Century Park to host open house Thursday

The new Century Park Apartment Homes located at 121 Second St. in Century, behind the sheriff's office on Highway 29, will host an open house from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., this Thursday, May 10, offering tours of the facility and light refreshments.

Featuring 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms with two bathrooms and a list of amenities including a fitness center, playground and business center, Century Park is accepting applications for residency.

Built by the Paces Foundation and managed by Royal American Company, the facility qualifies applicants through a restricted income program. Manager Beth Mixon says restricted income differs from low income in that it depends on the numbers of occupants and their income as opposed to the overall income of the residents.

"We have minimum and maximum income restrictions but offer affordable housing," said Mixon. "We screen the applicants and do a thorough checking process to determine qualification. The apartments feature high-efficiency appliances and offer amenities that are appealing to potential occupants."

For the kids, there is a playground and a 'Magical Butterfly Garden' will be installed in the future. On the property is a gazebo, ample parking, a laundry center, washer and dryer hookup in each apartment and open, spacious floor plans. The community center offers a kitchen as well as a spacious meeting area for social gatherings.

A security deposit is required for each apartment and pets up to 25 pounds are allowed, but there are certain breed restrictions and a non-refundable pet fee of $350 is applicable.

Mixon said there are 11 residents so far and she is working on several more applications, which will fill about half the apartments, if approved.

"We have 50 units total," said Mixon. "We will be around 50 percent occupancy if the applications we are working on qualify. This open house is kind of a soft opening, to invite everyone to come in and see what we have to offer."

Mixon said the facility will have a grand opening sometime in the future, when they finish the last construction details, like painting, installing weather stripping and getting all the furniture situated in the office.
