Atmore man jailed in DUI fatal crash

Freemanville man killed in Atmore crash

An Atmore man who was the driver in a single-vehicle accident last Saturday, April 14, that claimed the life of one passenger and injured another, now faces DUI charges.

Willie James Hudson, 28, of Atmore, was driving a 2007 Scion with Antonia Richardson, 38, and Wade Johnson, III, 27, of Atmore, as passengers.

When the Scion left the roadway and overturned on Highway 21 near the 4.6 mile marker, three mile north of Atmore, Richardson was transported to USA Medical Center where he died from his injuries two days later.

The driver, Hudson, and the other passenger, Johnson, were transported to Atmore Community Hospital. None of the occupants were using seatbelts and both Richardson and Johnson were ejected from the vehicle.

Hudson was charged with DUI in the fatal crash and may face more serious charges.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
