Highway patrolmen investigate fatal crash on Highway 29 Friday
A two-car crash last Friday in McDavid took the life of a pipeline construction worker from Pensacola at the scene, with later information that the Century woman who struck him died several days.
Maceo Perkins, 41, was killed when he was struck by Sharon Odom, 60, who collided with a parked vehicle Perkins was near in McDavid. Perkins was pronounced dead on the scene and Odom was transported to Sacred heart hospitals with serious injuries.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, Perkins was working on the west shoulder of Highway 29 April 6, standing outside a 2014 Dodge Ram truck, when Odom's 2006 Ford Mustang traveled off the roadway onto the west shoulder colliding with the truck and Perkins.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash and seeks assistance of any witnesses or anyone helping at the scene after the crash to contact FHP Corporal David Todd at 850-544-5990.
