Ward jailed for meth

A Brewton woman already out on bond on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance was arrested early Friday morning in East Brewton after the allegedly tried to toss four baggies of methamphetamine out the window of her vehicle.

Stephanie White Ward, 40, 209 Dawson St., was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance for the meth, following the traffic stop.

According to reports with the East Brewton Police Department, Officer Brandon Mealer initiated a traffic stop at 3:20 a.m. Friday on Ward's vehicle for a broken tail light. The officer reported before the vehicle, which was driven by Ward, pulled over he saw four baggies being tossed from the driver's side window.

After retrieving the baggies, police reported they each contained methamphetamine. Reports also note the passenger in Ward's vehicle was not charged.

Ward was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and was also issued a bond revocation on a 2017 case of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

She has since been released from the Escambia County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
