Traffic stops lead to arrests

Two recent routine traffic stops in Flomaton led to the arrest of four people on misdemeanor marijuana charges.

Tuesday night, two Illinois residents were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Flomaton Police Sgt. Scott Walden and Officer Issac Lopez initiated a stop on Highway 113 on a vehicle doing 65 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Sgt. Walden reported when he approached the vehicle he could smell the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed a small blunt cigarette containing marijuana and a small plastic bag that contained about 4 grams of marijuana and two blunt cigarettes.

Tiara Mack, 25, and Ebrice Ward, 24, both of Joliet, Ill., were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were bonded out at the scene.

On Feb. 3 Walton and Lopez initiated a traffic stop on Highway 113 on a vehicle with no tag that led to the arrest of two Century residents on drug charges.

Aaron Madison, 24, 766 Berry Woods Road, and Don Duran Dubose, 26, 187 Hudson Hill Road, were both charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II.

According to police reports, Sgt. Walden said when he and Lopez approached the vehicle the occupants appeared very nervous and were moving around. They asked the subjects to step out of the vehicle and Lopez noticed what appeared to be marijuana in Dubose's right sock. A search of the vehicle revealed a clear bag of marijuana in a cup next to where Madison was sitting.

Madison and Dubose claimed the marijuana and were both charged. A third occupant was not charged.

Both were bonded out at the scene.
